How Diode Laser Works
Laser hair removal in general works on the principle of selective photothermolysis, which means
dark areas absorb light energy from the laser better than lighter ones. However, lasers do not
inherently distinguish hair from skin, and the distinction is made by color alone.
When the hair is darker than the surrounding skin, it absorbs the light energy (the skin doesn't)
This light energy turns into heat which destroys both the hair shaft and the hair follicle while ke-
eping the skin unharmed.

1. How many times does laser hair removal take to get rid of hair?
Hair growth is divided into the growth phase (anagen), regression phase (catagen), and resting phase (telogen). The hair matrix cells divide rapidly in the growth period, and the melanin is the most in this period, so it is extremely sensitive to the laser; in the degenerative period, the hair matrix degenerates, and the hair papilla shrinks; in the telogen phase, the hair follicles are separated from the dermal papilla, and the hair falls out, and the time of the telogen period varies with the location.
The relationship between the hair growth cycle and hair removal treatment: Because the laser has no obvious effect on the hair in the catagen and telogen phases, the laser can only work after these hairs enter the growth phase, so laser hair removal requires multiple treatments before the effect can be obvious. If the proportion of hair in a certain part is in the anagen period is small, the number of treatments should be increased. On the contrary, the number of treatments can be reduced.
