lesions, and skin rejuvenation. The working theory of the 1064nm long pulse Nd:YAG laser involves its interaction
with the target tissue in the skin. Here's how it works:
Nd:YAG Laser Medium: The Nd:YAG laser is named after the neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet crystal
that serves as the laser medium. This crystal is designed to produce light at a wavelength of 1064nm
(near-infrared range), which has a high penetration depth into the skin.
Melanin Absorption: The 1064nm wavelength is less absorbed by melanin, making it suitable for treating individuals
with darker skin tones. This reduces the risk of unwanted pigmentation changes in the skin. The laser energy is
selectively absorbed by the target chromophore, which can be melanin in hair follicles or hemoglobin in blood vessels.
Hair Removal: In the context of hair removal, the 1064nm Nd:YAG laser targets the melanin in the hair follicle.
