Principles and Applications of 980nm Lasers
Laser energy is absorbed by dental tissue (particularly water within dentinal tu-bules). generating  instantaneous,controlled microheat. 

Heat gently penetrates deep into the enamel and dentin,slightly expanding thedentinal tubules and increasing the permeability of the tooth structure. 

Heat can seal the nerve endings in dentin,reducing sensitivity simultaneously, high temperatures also possess certain sterilizing and disinfecting effects.[Initiator]  

Blue light photons are absorbed by photoinitiators in the resin or whitening gel.causing them to decompose into free radicals.
