ND YAG Laser:
Nd:YAG (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) lasers are commonly used in various medical and aesthetic applications, including tattoo removal, skin rejuvenation, and hair removal. They emit a specific wavelength of light (typically 1064 nm) that is well-suited for targeting deep pigmentation in the skin, such as dark tattoo ink or melanin in hair follicles.
ND YAG lasers are particularly effective for tattoo removal because the 1064 nm wavelength can penetrate the skin deeply, breaking down the tattoo ink into smaller particles. The body's immune system then helps remove these fragmented ink particles gradually, leading to fading and clearance of the tattoo over several sessions.
Picosecond Laser:
Picosecond lasers are a more advanced type of laser technology compared to traditional ND YAG lasers. They emit extremely short pulses of light in the picosecond range (1 picosecond = 10^-12 seconds). This ultra-fast pulse duration allows the laser to deliver energy in shorter bursts, which is believed to be more efficient in breaking down tattoo ink particles and skin pigment.
The theory behind picosecond lasers is that the shorter pulse duration creates a photomechanical effect, where the laser energy shatters the tattoo ink or pigment into even smaller particles than what ND YAG lasers can achieve. This can lead to more efficient tattoo clearance and may also be used in other skin treatments, like treating certain pigmentation issues and rejuvenation procedures.
Combining ND YAG and Picosecond Lasers:
Some modern laser systems are equipped with both ND YAG and picosecond laser technologies. These hybrid systems offer the versatility of both technologies, allowing practitioners to choose the appropriate laser mode depending on the specific tattoo or skin concern they are addressing. For instance, ND YAG mode might be suitable for larger, deeper tattoos, while picosecond mode may be preferred for certain colors or pigments that are more challenging to remove.
Before deciding on any laser treatment, it's crucial to consult with a qualified and experienced dermatologist or laser specialist who can assess your individual needs and recommend the most suitable treatment approach for you.
BASIC INFORMATION:
The procedure is non-invasive, slightly painful; the impulses can be compared to "stings by a rubber band". It is recommended to undergo the treatment in 3 - 4 sessions in monthly intervals.
Since it is not followed by any significant changes, the client may thereafter apply make-up and go back to school or work.
The procedure is performed during a non-sunny period, while the given locality must not be exposed to UV radiation one month before and one month after the surgery
